Lakeshore Lightning Travel Tryout and Player Selection Process
At Lakeshore Lightning, we’re all about keeping things fair and transparent when it comes to our travel tryouts. We want everyone—players, parents, and coaches—to understand how the process works, so we’ve explained it here for you.
2026/27 Lakeshore Lightning First Team Travel Coaches
Coaches for the 2026–2027 season will be announced prior to tryouts.

2026 Travel Tryout Registration
Tryout registration opens March 25, 2026
Players who attend first team tryouts and are not selected do not need to register again for second team tryouts — your original registration covers both.
Tryout Schedule
Tryouts for the upcoming season kick off on April 20, 2026, and will run for 2 weeks.

Cost:
- $80 Travel Tryout
- ⚠️ Credit Card Payments: A 3% processing fee applies (approx. $2.40)
- Fees are non-refundable.
- Payment is required at the time of registration. Registrations without payment do not reserve a spot and will be removed.
- No player will be allowed on the ice without full payment
Registration Details
- All players attending tryouts must register and purchase a 2026-27 Travel Tryout Package through RAMP.

Important Tryout Information
- Open tryouts for all Lakeshore Lightning travel teams will begin the week of April 20, 2026. Additional tryouts for second teams will follow.
- Players should not wear travel or team jerseys/socks during tryouts.
- Permission to Tryout:
- Players who played for a different OWHA association last season must provide a Permission to Skate form signed by their previous OWHA association before their first tryout.
- Players transferring from an OMHA association do not require this form.
- LL players trying out at another center will need a Permission to Tryout form signed by LLGH
- Attendance Requirement: Players must attend all tryout sessions for their division’s first team to be eligible for selection (unless excused by the Travel Director).
- Tryouts include multiple sessions over several days to allow for thorough evaluation.
- Players will wear numbered bibs for anonymity; however, evaluators and coaches may recognize some players. Despite efforts to maintain anonymity, this is acknowledged as a limitation in the selection process.
- Player evaluations belong to the evaluators and will not be shared outside of the head coach and LLGH Board.
- The goal is to form teams with 15 skaters and 2 goalies, unless otherwise approved by the LLGH Board.
