U18AA Coaching Staff Bio's
Submitted By travel on Tue 04 18, 23
Ashley Maitre started her coaching career during the 2022/23 season as an assistant coach with the Lakeshore Lightning U18 AA team. Having got a taste of coaching last season, Ashely is hungry for more and is excited to make the step to head coach for the 2023/24 season. As a recent U SPORTS player, she looks forward to sharing her skills and knowledge of the game while providing her athletes with opportunities to develop as individuals and as a team.

Before joining the Lakeshore Lightning Girls Hockey Association, Ashley played 5 seasons with the University of Windsor Lancers while graduating from the Human Kinetics Movement Science Co-op Program. With the Lancers she served as an assistant caption during the 2018/19 season and as the captain from 2019-2022. She was an Academic All Canadian all 5 seasons, team MVP in 2018/19 & 2021/22, University of Windsor Captain’s Trophy winner in 2019/20, and OUA West 2nd Team All Star in 2021/22. During her time with the Lancers Ashley developed her leadership skills and learned a lot about developing team culture.

Prior to joining the Lancers, Ashley played 3 seasons for the Southwest Wildcats and played her minor hockey with the Belle River District Minor Hockey Association.

Ashley is fortunate to have Mike Allen and Candice Chevalier on the bench with her this season.  As a long time coach, most recently as an assistant coach with the University of Windsor Women’s Hockey team, Mike offers an extensive knowledge of the game and ability to develop a competitive team. Candice also has ties to the University of Windsor as a former player and coach. She had a successful career with the Lancers having played 5 season and served as an assistant captain. Following her playing career, Candice stayed involved with the team as an assistant coach and later strength and conditioning coach.
