Season Start Up Message
Submitted By Gord Lachine on Sat 08 29, 20
Parents and players of Lakeshore Lightning and Essex Thunder Association - As you all can imagine, hockey will not be the same this year. At this time, we are waiting for confirmation from the town as far as what our ice availability will be.  The Essex Arena will be under construction for a few months so all Thunder registrants will be playing out of Lakeshore.

There are protocols set by the OWHA as well as the Atlas Tube Center to enter and for the use of the rink and these are changing week to week.  We will post these rules on our website. While working with the restrictions set by the OWHA and our local Public Health Unit, the structure will be much different as the number of players allowed on the ice and the necessity of keeping play within our association is mandated.

At this time, this will look like teams of 10-12 players in pods of up to 50 players per tier.  The focus this season will be player development and 3 on 3 hockey or whatever we are allowed to introduce as stages open.  Please read the latest ‘Return to Hockey’ protocol from the OWHA on our website to familiarize yourself with their current policies.

Ice time will begin by mid to the end of September.  At this time, we are asking that you register a.s.a.p. because our numbers will at some point need to be capped.  This is on the new RAMP system, so even if you registered on the day of champs, we need all players to register through this new site which was mandated by the OWHA.   We are taking full payment with the knowledge that refunds may be necessary as we don't know how this whole season will play out.

A player is not considered fully registered until payment is received
.  Cheques can be made out in the following format:  $210 Sept 15th, $210 November 15th and $210 January 15th or one cheque dated Sept 15th in the full amount of $630.  Send in all cheques at once to: Lakeshore Lightning, PO Box 223, Belle River, ON N0R 1A0.  Those who paid by postdated cheques at the Day of Champs, we will use the above dates instead of the June, July and August dates which they were written for.  Contact the treasurer if you have any questions about this.  Etransfers will also be accepted but must be one payment in the full amount of $630.  The etransfer is to be sent to: [email protected]   - this is an autodeposit and does not require a password.  Please put in your daughter’s name and your email address in the remarks box of the etransfer so I can confirm receipt of the transfer to you.

Please keep checking our website as we will do our best to keep you updated on any information or changes that are passed on to us by the Town of Lakeshore, the Town of Essex, the PHU or the OWHA.
