Head Coach
Hello, my name is Sylvain Arsenault and I will be coaching the Bantam 1 team this upcoming season. I have two girls and they both play multiple sports. I have been in the Lakeshore area since 1999 where I became a teacher. I was born and raised in a small town in Northern Ontario called Hearst where I learned everything I know today as a coach from great teachers, especially my dad.
MY EXPERIENCE
I have been involved with Lakeshore Lightning for the past 5 season and the last 4 as a head coach. I have been coaching sports for the last 29 seasons. I have coached hockey, tennis, volleyball, soccer, badminton and track at all different age level. I played hockey at the Juvenile level and tennis at the Provincial level. My love for coaching is my passion, that’s why I became a physical education teacher, I live and breathe sports. This year, our team won silver at Best of the Best weekend and we won Gold at Provincials.
MY COACHING PHILOSOPHY
Doesn’t matter which sport I coach, my philosophy is the same, hard work, teamwork and believe in your abilities. I strongly believe that teamwork is the key to success. Hopefully I have the chance to coach your daughter this coming season and show her the true meaning of playing sports, having fun, working hard, making new friendship and learning that losing and winning is part of growing.
